Industry Update

18th October 2022

Good morning everyone,

Dispensation

DALRRD will issue their position on dispensation today and we will forward it as soon as received. They wanted the strike to conclude so that the exact days can be determined.

9am Daily update on port container terminals operational status due to Transnet strike.

Staff is slowly returning to work, but no terminal reported a full complement of workers. More waterside gangs are attending to vessels and the terminals will spend the next day or two clearing out imports. Appointments are needed at PECT, NCT, DCT but not at CTCT. We requested a reefer stack in Cape Town to open so that we can start moving cargo out of cold stores into containers and the port. The haulage fraternity also suggested night runs to move empty reefers out of the terminal and we will await feedback.
